I recently purchased a 2002 Jaguar x-type for my wife. It appears that the previous owner smoke in the vehicle leaving a strong odor of cigarette smoke inside the vehicle. After cleaning it multiple times, the smoke disappeared. Now, when the a/c comes on, there is a strong odor of cigarette emitting from the vents; it smells like an ashtray. How can I remove that odor?

Hi there,

Go to your local parts store and see if they stock any A/C deodorizer and sanitiser, there are a few on the market that are great for removing the smell of mould & mildew in A/C systems, it should work for your problem, if they do not have it, any work shop that does A/C repairs will be able to advise where to get it.
