My jaguar has developed an issue with the brakes under braking, mostly at low speeds just before the car completely stops.
The brakes pulse and make a twang sound after the brakes are applied and the car is almost getting to a stop. I assumed the issue was a fault with the abs but no fault code was found when the ECU was read. Very occassionaly the abs fault light illuminates and at this point the problem disappears- confirming my suspicion with the abs fault.
The question I have is whether this problem sounds like an abs issue? I recently had a service conducted and informed the dealer of this issue, their diagnosis was that the brakes' CV joints require replacement. I don't know if this would cause the issue with the breaking system though, and I don't think this explains the fact that the problem is alleviated when the abs light is illuminated.
I just wanted a little more information as to whether the cv joints could be the culprit before I shell out £500 to do the work. Any info would be very helpful.
Regards,
Shaun
