ADJUSTMENTS
GEARSHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID
ZF 5HP24 & W5A580
CAUTION:On convertible models, open doors, to allow side windows to lower. Ensure doors remain open until after battery has been disconnected.
Disconnect negative battery terminal. Remove "J" gate surround. Remove console veneer trim panel. Remove interlock solenoid actuating lever cover.
Manually operate gearshift interlock latch and release selector lever from "P" position and move shift lever to "N" position. Loosen solenoid mounting nuts. See Fig. 2 .
With assistance from another person, hold selector lever midway between "P" and "R" position. Move solenoid rearward, against spring pressure, to take up free play.
Tighten solenoid mounting nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Ensure interlock actuating lever has no free play with selector lever midway between "P" and "R" position. To complete installation, reverse removal procedures.
