alarm on 1989 jaquar

when i hook up the battery to the car the alarm goes off and will not shut off, I only have the key no remote. What can I do?

if it is a aftermarket alarm ,There should be a really small button under the dash on the drivers side. push button before trying to start car. they are a little touch and might have to do it a couple of times before it stops. also putting key in door lock it, then when you turn it to unlock the car turn it twice as if you were unlocking it again.
