2003 Other Jaguar Models limp mode

sometimes the computer says engine fault ang gear box fault but on the computer diagonostics there is no fault what can i do do i replace the whole computer any ideas please it happens every so often if i turn the car off and start it again its fine its a xtype jag 2003 model
