1989 Isuzu Truck Engine cranks but no start

1989 Isuzu Truck 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

Removed and cleaned heads, replaced. lined up #1 on the pulley crankshaft. Got it all in line with the camshaft. When came time to start camshaft timing runs away. Also, is the firing order 1, 2, 3, 4 or 1, 3, 4, 2?

Firing order is; 1-3-4-2.
What do you mean by "the camshaft timing runs away"? Does it shread the belt or what? Please advise.

Does it shread the belt or what? no
camshaft jumps out from the #1 position, timing goes off.

Bear with me here, is the cam sprocket slipping on the cam or the belt jumping?

Now you have me totally confused. WHAT do you mean by "the camshaft runs away"? The cam can't jump out of #1 TDC position unless either the belt jumps or the cam or crank sprocket is moving.

If you think the belt is jumping a notch or two. Time everything out and mark the belt and sprocket positions with a piece of chalk or something and spin it over. this will gige you a reference point.
