My Trooper runs fine until i turn on the airconditioning. At this point the car may run fine for a while then it acts like it wants to stall as if it was out of gas and may run fine for a while again but will always die if given enough time...as soon as the A/C is turned off this problem go's away...when the A/C is on it cools fine...what could be causing this...someone thought it may be the ECU so I had this changed but the problem did not go away...HELP

A/C does use a lot of power check ALT output should be 14.5 to 15.5. check with volt meter across battery terminals engine off then running then with A/C on. Post results will advise.

Thanks for your quick response...I checked the voltage at the battery with the my trooper off..it was 12.91 volts...started vehicle with A/C off...14.18 volts...turned on A/C...14.18 volts...ran for about 30 sec. then died. I did test the relays for the A/C by swapping them with same type both inside vehicle and under hood....same problem engine dies when
A/C is ran...HELP! Thank you.

When it dies does it start back up? Has PCM been scanned for codes? Does engine RPM stay stable when A/C is on ie. does it keep same RPM as with A/C off?

The trooper starts right back up after it dies and will continue to run then die as long as AC is on. Turn off AC and trooper runs fine.

I did scan the PCM and no codes come up. The engine rpm does not change when AC is turned on. Says around 800 rpm...What else could be causing this probelm..I do appriciated your help.

I don't either try this in engine fuse box remove A/C thermostaqt relay see if it keeps running

I removed the Therostat relay and started the trooper with the A/C switch to the on position the engine did not die..(note the A/C compressor not running with this relay pulled)..when I put back in the relay after 2 min. of running the compressor started and the engine died with in 30 seconds. Problem still exiists..Please give me more ideas on what could cause this problem....Thank you for your help.

O.K. when A/C clutch is engaged signal voltage sent to PCM with that relay out no signal sent so suspect faulty PCM. If your willing to experment find PCM right side engine compartment. Locate Pin F4 green/black wire either remove from connector or cut. See if it keeps running with A/c on.

Trying to locate pin F4 on PCM (green and black wire)
on PCM connector base it is labled A, B, C, D...do you have a diagram of which connector and location of pin F4. Thank you.
The PCM was the 1st thing I changed but it was a used one...I guess it could have had the same problem. Thank you for your help.

Connector is Blue first wire is Black/Blue
Think the green/black wire maybe broken and not telling PCM A/C is on. Or A/C clutch is drawing to many amps. Try this unhook wire to compressor run temp wire from Batt POS start run A/C does it keep going?
