top gear fails to engage. all other gears work perfectly. no leaks, bangs, crashes from transmission, just stopped working

Thank you for the donation.
Does the trans shifts into OD and flares or it does not want to upshift from 3rd gear?
Does the CHECK TRANS light shows for 2 or 3 seconds before going off at ignition ON?
Try getting a diagnostic scan done to see if any codes are recorded.
