My key is stuck in the ignition. It will turn on
and is driveable but wont return to the
off position where I can pull the key out


Is this a transmission lock out?
Please advise and let me know where I can go
to have this repaired and an estimate
AAA and the locksmiths here do not want to
attempt to look a the car.

Same thing happened to my 99 Rodeo a couple months ago. I had an everyday locksmith look at it (he had done this sort of thing before). He discovered that the cable which runs between the ignition and the gear shift was out of adjustment. The ignition didn't know that the car was in park and thus would not allow me to remove the key. The locksmith removed almost all the panels on the dash and finally made a quick easy adjustment to that cable, which fixed the problem.
