Our 1998 Isuzu V-6 Rodeo quit running at 30 mph yesterday. Tried to restart initially with no luck. Recycled iginition key a a few times (thinking fuel pump prime) and it started, revved to 2,500 for 10 seconds then dropped off and died. Has done so repeatedly since and while cold this morning, it ran about 25 seconds then dropped off and died. Checked fuel pump relay and fuse, swapped relay with heater relay with no change. Fuel pump makes a whirring sound (priming) when key is turned. Changed filter because it was due anyway. Turned key with fuel line disconnected--"prime" seemed to happen as fuel pumped out of line. Haynes manual points me toward fuel pressure check and fuel pressure control valve or possibly a vacuum switching valve. Thoughts at this point?
