I've got a schizophrenic 96 Rodeo, 3.2L, 135K miles that about 2 years ago developed a high idle speed of about 2100/2200 rpm.

Replaced TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) and that seemed to fix the problem for about the last year when it began happening again.

Replaced ICV (Idle Control Valve) a couple of weeks ago and that too seemed to fix the problem. Unfortunately it's begun to happen again.

It's very intermittent. I cannot come up with any type of regular scenario under which it occurs.

Looking for advice as to where to look next.

Thanks!

Hi philzale,

Look for possible vacumn leakages. If IAC has coolant hoses attached to it, check the coolant hoses for clogging and coolant level in radiator.
