1993 Isuzu Rodeo Question will not crank at all

My 93 Isuzu Rodeo will not start or even crank (nothing) maybe a small clunk in starter. the battery is good. I removed starter (replaced before). Bench tested bad amped out , gravelly sound. Still no crank. I know I have constant 12V at starter (bat.) not getting voltage ignition line. I have checked panel fuses and under hood relays and fuses. I tried to adjust clutch switch , but just dont see a clutch switch and book is no help. I have and can use a meter. Where do I check now? does this seem ignition, timing belt, sensors? This problem was kind of sudden but I did notice kind of an "airy" whoosh at some starts prior. Since it is manual , will it tell me anything if I "push" start (or if it fails to start on push start). Please help>
