My truck recently starting shaking in fifth gear usually at about 50 mph. It has since gotten worse and even happens in fourth now I think as of today. I usually have to take it out of gear and coast for a minute and then it will usually settle down. Sometimes I will have to take it out and put it back a few times.
This is definately not from an out of balance tire, I am talking alot more shake than that. Imagine you going down the road and suddenly your tires all morph into squares.
The shaking and jerking can be felt all over, but I feel it most in the shifer, and engaging the clutch relieves it.
Today I was sure I wasn't going to make it home from work, it was worse than normal and all my dash lights came on. This doesn't happen at lower speeds.
Any help is very much appreciared.
I kinda checked the U-joints for play, but I can't move them with my hand, and I would think if that was it it would have to be alot, like six inches of play. But I'm not a mechanic.
