A friend purchased a 1998 Hombre with 77k. Less than a year ago a valve job was done on the engine. There is a distinct metal to metal noise coming from the engine. It appears to be either a broken/bad lifter or push rod adjustment issue. Does this 2.2 have hydraulic or mechanical lifters? If mechanical, are they self adjusters? What is the book repair time for replacing the lifters? Thanks.

Hydraulic, no adjustment needed. All clyniders 7.0, one cylinder 6.3. Each one should cost around $20.

Thank you. Do you know what the allotted book time is for replacing the lifters?

That is the times I listed. 7 hours to replace them all, and 6.3 hours to just replace 1.
