2008 Isuzu Ascender engine knocking

2008 ISUZU ASCENDER

The engine started knocking which sounds like a tappet. It also started missing and the rpms dropped on idle. This morning it will crank but could not start it.
It is less then two years old, is this possible?

When the knocking started, did you take note of the temperature gauge reading?

Check the coolant level in radiator.
Check engine oil level.

At bottom of post there is a " First Things To Check " link where you can get some idea what to check when engine could not be started.

Temperature was normal, oil pressure normal, I did stop and check the oil level and it was fine. In the owners manual it said to continue at a slower rate so long as the icon of the engine did not start flashing. I reduced my speed to 30 miles however, engine was fluttering and i though it was going to stop. I raise the speed limit to 40 and drove home.

Did you perform the test as outlined in the " First things To Check " link?

You need to determine what is missing causing the non starting, fule, mechanical or ignition fault.
