Is this leak something to worry about?

I checked out the vehicle listed above today and looked underneath and saw this transmission piece with some leakage spots (2 small ones). I was wondering if this is a bad leakage and something that is a dealbreaker for this car. I heard fixing transmissions in hybrids is especially costly.

the 1st picture is the overall while the other two are zoomed up ones.

Hi,

I looked at the first two pics and didn't see any concerns. Pic 3, on the other hand, concerns me.

I copied your pic and circled an area where it appears that Permatex was used to repair (maybe) a crack. Is the orange substance soft?

Is this vehicle at a dealership or a private owner? How many owners has the vehicle had?

Let me know.

Joe

Thank you for the response, Joe. This vehicle is from a dealer and there were two owners. The carfax report (https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?partner=DEY_0&vin=JTMDJREVXGD013090) says there was minor damage. The front left bumper was very slightly loose (wouldn't tell if you hadn't pressed it).

Hi,

I went through the Carfax. I noted a couple of things that I thought were odd. See pics below.

I noted a mirror was replaced, but that doesn't seem related to the accident because they are two years apart. Also, I found it odd that the 5,000-mile service was done at 20,000. And I have no idea why they would inspect the floor mats. It is in several of the services. LOL

As far as the vehicle is concerned, anytime you purchase a used vehicle, you take a chance. If you are getting a good price on the vehicle and a substantial dealer warranty, it should be fine. The only thing I would suggest is to show them the pic you sent me and ask why there would be so much Permatex in that area. Ask if something was cracked or damaged and that is how it was fixed.

Let me know what they tell you or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
