Oxygen sensor replacement instructions?

This could be a couple of things. First and foremost it could be the o2 sensors, purge valve or a couple other items as well.

The check engine light comes on. It called for bank one o2 sensor. So I went ahead and changed both o2 sensors. I cleared the code and it stayed off until she accelerated hard getting back on interstate. I thought maybe it was a faulty sensor so I replaced the first one again. Same result. Plus, the mileage isn't as good as it once was. Other than that a great car. Any help is appericated.

What were the exact code? slow reaponse? heater circuit? there are several codes for the o2 sensors, and some are mixture codes that may be a problem with the fuel injection that is causing the o2 sensor to not be able to control the mixture

Where are the o2 sensors located and how difficult are they to change? Also is there any type of computer resetting that has to be done?

Hi:
The O2 sensors are on the exhaust. One is upstream and one down stream (cat), and they almost look like a spark plug. They are easy to replace. They just screw out and in and have an electrical plug. However, I recommend that you purchase antiseeze and put some on the new sensor's threads before replacing them. Also, you don't need to do anything to the computer.

how to replace o2 sensors

turn on vehcle and let it warm up. be careful exhaust will be very ot.

with engine off locate oxygen sensor that needs replacement and disconnect the connector keepign it away from the hot pipes.

after that you will have to use a special socket or a box end wrench and procede to loosen it making careful not to strip it out or hit the hot exhaust.

when installing the new one use antiseize compound.
