steering pump replacement instructions please?

Power steering out fluid still in. Serpentine belt still there making no noise (power steering pump), power steering fluid full, but the cap to it has a rubber casket and it's about two inches from cap. i never notice before i had problem with different truck where it sucked down clutch gasket like that didn't know. similar issue is this the power steering pump. How do I test pump to see if it works?

If there are no odd sounds and you have no assist, chances are the pump is bad. Since the fluid is still full, it sounds like it isn't producing pressure. This video shows the job being done on a similar car but the process is the same.
