Is it possible to replace the spring in the push-in shifter button

Hi,

There is not a lighter spring but there are somethings you can do to make it better. Remove the shift knob and see if the button is not broke or dirty, Check for any dirt or grime causing the the button hard to depress or stick.If your shift knob button is not broke and clean, Check the shift linkage with the shift knob off the shift handle by pressing down on the lock button to see if it is wore out or sticking. It may just need clean lubed up and adjusted or it may need replaced.

Thanks for your quick response. Disassembly looks straightforward. I'm wondering if everything is okay once examined and lubed up and there's no change in the amount of resistance, would clipping the spring to make it a bit shorter make the button easier to depress?

By the way, great video — couldn't ask for a better one!

I wouldn't recommend clipping the spring,Think of a coil spring as a lever, the longer the wire the more leverage you have. So given the same wire material, and wire diameter. A shorter length will have less leverage and be stiffer (require more work on the part that is being moved).
What you can try is small diameter spring same length. Or an aftermarket custom shift knob with a different type of release, One she could us her whole hand instead of her thumb. ( Ask your local parts stores if they handle Honda aftermarket accessories.)
