I recently had my car serviced for its regular mileage maintenance. The service didn't uncover anything except one bad front passenger tire which was replaced. The service included rotating the tires and checking the brakes. After a couple of days I noticed that at times, when I get to a red light and stop, when I start to accelerate slowly ( I have a light foot), there will be a brief rubbing or grating noise from the front of the vehicle. This noise lasts for maybe a second and then is gone. This does not always occur and I can't seem to make it occur, but it will eventually happen again in stop and go traffic.

I would be checking front brakes they may just be rubbing a little, when you hear the noise try apply light brake pressure and see if it changes the noise.
