You can use most any vehicle that the transmission came in after 1995 when they made an upgrade to where the cooler lines connected to the case. If you look at the picture, the square was where the cooler lines attached from 90-94. Then in 95 they switched it to the rear location where the circle is. Plus there was a case different, it didn't have the top bolt hole for the LS engine in the bell housing. Lastly the linkage is shorter in the older units.

So you can use a transmission out of any vehicle that had the 4L80E after model year 1996. Just make sure it is the original transmission because many people didn't know the differences and made an older unit work in their newer vehicle.

The vehicles that used this were, Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, and the Vans. There are more but these are the most common vehicles. Clearly if you can find one with the same model year in one of these vehicles then that will make it even easier.

Hope I answered your questions.

One thing that I didn't mention. The electrical connector on the side of the transmission I believe changed over the years so worst case scenario you need to transfer that from your unit, but if you are rebuilding it that shouldn't be a big deal.

The connector is different from the early units to the later one (before and after 1995) but as I said, I think they are different over the years of the later unit. I could be wrong and they are all the same but I just wanted to make sure I said that.

Thanks again for continuing to come back to 2CarPros. We appreciate your loyalty.
