Input speed sensor replacement

What kind of work is it going to take to change the input speed sensor on my car listed above 2.2 ecotec motor? Car surges while holding a speed can see it in tachometer. Do I need to take apart the transmission? Already replaced the output speed sensor didn't help.

Is the CEL on? The input speed sensor wouldn't usually cause a surging as it doesn't send information the ECU uses for the engine, that all comes from the cam and crank sensors and the MAP and MAF sensors. It would cause shifting issues and if it is bad it would set a code. As for it's location, it is inside the transmission and it has to be torn down some to get to it. Book time of 7.5 hours.
I have seen surging caused by multiple items, a dirty MAF sensor, bad fuel, Dirty throttle body, and more. I would probably start by checking the live data with a scan tool to see if it shows anything related to the surging. Then I'd test the ignition coils and injector flow rates.

Okay, thank you. The car has very low miles and wasn't driven much before we got it. Have not got into cleaning injectors or throttle body yet or even changing fuel filter. Doesn't have a engine light either so a little confusing.

Setting around is one of the worst things for vehicles. Things corrode because they are not being used. I would probably check it over close and do the common tune up items because it sat for a while. Then see what you have.
