Hi, id my cat converter needs replacing, can I just replace it with a regular muffler? Not from a legal standpoint, but from the standpoint of is it OK for the car?

To find out if there's a problem to it-get an exhaust backpressure test as far as driving it remove it and put a test pipe on it-
