1998 Infiniti I30 CV Boots and axles

I've been told the CV boots are aged and cracked. Is it a good idea to replace the axles with the Boots? The dealer wants $506 to replace the boots and mechanic at a good shop will do both axles and boots for $380. Should I be concerned about the quality of the axles because I doubt they will be original inifinit axles?

Go with axles at independent shop. Just boots is not a good fix. The after market are fine and usually can be bought OEM for much less than dealer.

I made the decision yesterday to do just that but it was before I got your reply. I feel better about it. I ended leaving it with the dealer though and had them replaces the axles and boots because they did the job for just a little more.
