My immobilizer light and battery light came on yesterday, but still started, put in reverse and both lights went off. next day they came in and stayed on. got gas then it turned over longer before it started. I parked it afraid of getting stranded. help

I would start with getting the battery tested. It sounds like the theft light comes on just because the battery is getting weak. This is not surprising because when the battery gets weak, all sorts of crazy things start to happen.

If you can't test the battery then most parts stores can do that. Just make sure this is a load test because just hooking a meter up to it doesn't test the battery properly.

Let me know what you find and we can go from there. Thanks

I put a new battery in it 2 months ago because of cold weather. old one dragged a little when it got in the teens, no dragging since.

Okay. This doesn't mean that the battery is still not drained. If you have a draw on the battery it can actually drain it in a matter of days.

The battery light only comes on if the voltage while driving is below a threshold. Until we verify the battery and charging system are okay, we would just be guessing. Unfortunately we can only go on what the vehicle is telling us and the battery light means the voltage is low.
