Usually when the key won't insert fully the issue is that one of the tumblers is bound up. What I would do first is get some dry lube like graphite or spray lube. You don't want something like WD30 or another oil-based item. Lube the key slot then gently use the key and tapping the key and see if you can get it to free up. If you can then it becomes much easier to repair the problem. Then you can replace the lock cylinder, if you have a locksmith in the area, you could get the cylinder from them and have them code it to your current keys. Or just have them do it all as that way you don't need to deal with having multiple keys or security problems.
