Ignition key programming

I just bought the car listed above SE model. It came with only one key which has a chip embedded. Is there a less expensive way to have a new key programmed other than going to a dealer?

I was going to purchase a key and a universal key fob through eBay or some such, but the key still needs to be cut and programmed, along with the fob.

Your thoughts?

Unfortunately there aren't any programmers available for this model from Dorman. They have some available that plug in the obd port and allow programming of keys.

A cheaper alternative would be a locksmith. Usually you can save 25-50% vs the dealer.

Once you have the key down programming the fob is something you can do yourself. I'll post instructions below.

Turn the ignition from "Off" to "Run" eight times in ten seconds. The locks will cycle to confirm that you've entered programming mode.

Press any key on the first remote you're programming. Perform this within twenty seconds of step 1. The door locks will cycle to confirm programming.

Repeat step 2 with each additional remote, within twenty seconds of the prior programming. The locks will cycle after each successful programming.

Turn the key to the "Off" position to exit the programming mode.
