Ignition is locked

My ignition is locked, I tried turning the wheel and turning the key. I tried hitting the key with a hammer. Ultimately none of that worked.
I just wanted to know, do I need to call a mechanic or a locksmith?

I would recommend a mechanic. That way the part can be replaced and if any reprogramming is needed, that person can do it.
