Ignition immobilizer module damaged

My car was broken into and the ignition immobilizer module was damaged. my question is, what do i have to replace for car to start? Is it just the immobilizer or is it the whole ignition switch? Do I have to have it reprogrammed by a dealership if I still have original keys?

Hi,

It depends on when your vehicle was built. I included both systems based on the build date before or after 1/04. If built after then it looks like the ignition cylinder has key ring antenna. The vehicles built prior, looks like the ignition cylinder and the immobilizer are one in the same. You will need to replace the ignition switch if damaged either way. I would just call a dealer and give them your VIN and they can look the parts up based on your specific vehicle.

The keys do not need to be replaced but they will need to be re-registered. The last attachment shows the scenarios in which you will need to replace. However, they will need to be done by a dealer or someone who has a scan tool capable of entering the encrypted code.
