How do I access the top left bolt on the ignition coil? On the 3.5 it is easy but, on the 3.9 the pellhum is rounded in the back preventing access.
Please help. Thanks a lot.

Hi Neil,

Can you take some pictures of the problem you are taking about that way I can see what is going on? Upload them to the site here.

Cheers, Ken

How To Replace Install Engine Ignition Coil 2006-12 Chevy Impala 3.5L
Type the above into YouTube and, on timeline 3:09, you will see that the back of the pellhum is straight across but, on my 3.9 it is rounded, preventing access. There has to be another way of accessing the bolt without removing the pellhum.
Thank you very much for your reply.

It looks like you can use a wrench to remove the bolt or a 1/4 drive socket. I am still having a hard time seeing the problem. Can you give me a link to the video you are talking about? there are several.

You cannot even use a small 1/4" drive socket to get it to the tight space.
Thanks again for your reply and help.

I couldn't figure it out either, I'm guessing the whole bracket has to come out.

Hi,

I looked at the directions and the only thing they indicated was to remove the intake cover. The alternator is also shown, but there are no directions related to it. Are you able to get an offset box end wrench in there if you remove a few things?

I attached the directions below from the manual. Take a look through them and let me know if they help in any way.

Take care,

Joe
