To start my truck I have to shift into neutral and then back to park

I replaced my spark plugs, wires, the whole distributor, and the ignition coil. The truck runs and drives with no problem, but when I first start it I have to put it in neutral then back to park before it fires up. Once I start it the first time it'll start in park no problem. Help

Good evening,

That sounds like the park neutral switch. It only allows the starter to work in park or neutral.

I attached a diagram and a picture for you to view.

I would replace the switch.
