Ignition

Since it only happens at times, it could be a bad connection at the battery. Take a look through this link and let me know if it helps or your thoughts.

Thanks for responding Joe, the connection at the battery is all good. I am thinking it is the shifting rod in the column that is broke or just somehow got unhooked. I did replace ignition switch on the lower part of the steering wheel (column).The switch was not the problem, so I am thinking it is the key part of the ignition that is bad or like I said that rod that runs along the steering column.

It sounds like a starter or the neutral safety switch. Does the truck turn over if you manually work the switch?

Test for power going to from the ignition switch. Here is a guide:
