When starting up car in the morning, car revs up to 1.5 rpm and above. After the car warms up, it levels off at 600-700 rpm. Is this normal behavior?

Yes. That is normal if that is all it is doing. If it runs well but just has a higher idle until it warms up is normal.

What this is doing is the PCM is attempting to get the engine up to operating temp as quickly as possible. This is not only so the heat will blow warm but the engine runs better and produces less harmful emissions when it is warmed up. The engine produces the most amount of harmful emissions when it is cold so we want to get it hot as quickly as possible and higher RPM will do this.

Let me know if you have questions. Thanks

Thank you. This was very helpful. I'm glad it's not something serious but normal. Again, Thank you for all that information.
Now, do you have an schematic of the sliding door glass window, I think it's off the track. Just want to check the schematic to see a possible problem.

You are welcome. Glad that helped.

We can provide that diagram but unfortunately we need to get a new post started because if someone else is searching for it as well they will not find it under the heading of high idle on this post. They require one topic per post so that when they are put on search engines like Google they are easily searchable. Sorry for the inconvenience.
