had new TP sensor put in and now it wont go into fast idle. when stated cold and rpm's jump to 1,200 when put into gear, plus has a soft sloppy shift. had codes p0510 p0105 p1705 tec did not know what he was doing he set the TP sensor by ear, listening to the idle. said the map sensor was okay. don't trust him. idle returns to normal when I run the gear selector back and forth a couple times but problem comes back quick.

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Has the check engine light turned back on? Have you checked to make sure he didn't leave anything disconnected such as wiring harness, vacuum line, the air induction tube and so on?

If the light isn't on, the first thing I would do is check for engine vacuum leaks. Because of where he was working, it is possible that a vacuum line was left disconnected or damaged. Also, make sure the air induction tube between the throttle body and air filter is seated properly and tight. Any unmetered air entering the engine will cause idle issues..

Here are a couple links you may find helpful:

Let me know if this helps and if the check engine light is back on. If it is, let me know the new codes.

Take care,
Joe
