had rebuilt engine installed then idle issues began. have taken back to same mechanic 6 times to correct with it lasting 2 days each time. then warning lights back on stay on and low idle and poor gas usage. how many times does take fix a problem? seems minor to me. I also did it myself once and reset codes. appears this is all he has done I can see now after doing myself. I am 60 year old female.

Hello,

Clearing the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) and resetting the Keep Alive Memory (KAM) where the Direct Trouble Code (DTC) is stored is easy enough to do, but if you don't fix the problem that caused the DTC to set in the first place, then it will be set again and the MIL will illuminate again. If a used engine was installed and it has been back to the shop that installed it SIX times without resolving the issue, it may be an internal mechanical issue that is causing the problem. The best way to check the internals of an engine is to a compression check. This will tell you about the internal health of an engine. here is a link for you to go to explaining how it's done:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-engine-compression

Please go through this guide and report back here with the findings. We can analyze the results and go from there if further tests are required to track down your vehicle's problem.

Thanks,
Alex

I had the shop replace the plugs on the 2 misfire plugs no fix. Second day got car back had to bring back and there was a oil leak instead of getting another engine cause he stated to me in no way should a new rebuilt engine have this problem he chose to patch it in other words he said he put another gasket on. don't need compression test need another engine it is using oil on top of all these other issues.
