How can I make sure it was put back on properly before I put the engine back together?

After replacing head gaskets the timing chain came off

Good morning.
My first question is, why did it fall off? Did you find the reason for this failure? Timing chains do not fall off.
You will need to be sure the marks are aligned properly for proper valve timing.
The crank mark is below and the cam marks are attached as well.
