Good day and thank you for the opportunity,

I have a South African Nissan Hardbody 2.0L 16V 2002 Model Model : J03 38
Enj No : KA20016570X

I need to know what the timing should be set to and what the different (5) marks on the pulley means/values. Also should i disconnect anything before setting the timing. I have experience in setting timing and have all the timing equipment.

Any help would be appreciated.

Regards,

we do not have that model here we have a frontier and it is at 18-22BTDC. we do not have a listing for your vehicle and no pictures on timing marks, so this may be totally wrong.

A old trick i use on older cars is to set the timing with a vacuum gauge, find the best (highest) manifold vacuum reading by advancing and retarding the ignition, i would be looking at around 5-8deg BTDC make sure all tune items are ok, valve clearances are correct if they are adjustable and do fine adjustment on road test, i will also look into finding the correct setting as well.
