Hi there

I have the car listed above, FS 2.0 engine, which damaged the male plugs which plugs into the distributor. There are two male plugs in total, one 6-pin and the other 3-pin.

Now, the diagrams I have found are different by two or three colors on the 6-pin connector none match my wires exactly. The wire colors are as follows:

Thick black/white - 12v from ignition switch
Green - to tacho
Black/yellow
Yellow/white
Orange
Black/red (this one goes into data link connector)
Thick Red/black
Black - Ground
Yellow

I know that the BLK/WHT is 12v from switch GRN is TACH signal both of these go into the 3 pin plug the last third one I do not know. I know though that if I sort out the rest, all of the others will be sorted out by default.

All the diagrams I was able to find do not match my customer's car exactly. So, I do not want to risk frying the PCM.

If someone could help me with the pin diagram and wire colors... pretty please.

Here are the engine and wiring diagrams so you can rewire the distributor correctly. Check out the images (below). Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

What a joy to have such a site... now Ken L, I need the pin out diagram of the distributor. I can see the yellow/white, but I do not know on which terminal does it go to into the distributor.

That is my small problem now.

Again, thank you a million times.

I do not know what to say... I will get paid when I fix this, and I owe you guys a donation. It won't be much, but it will come from my heart.

I was struggling for weeks man...

Can I have the connector diagram for the other 3pin plug? And PCM pin out too?

Hi Ken, sorry for the late reply.

I was repairing the wires and I thank you very much.

Back to my saga... I connected everything but the distributor is not producing spark. If I set the engine to TDC and loosen the distributor hold-down bolt (there 2 in fact) and swiftly move it back and forth I get no spark. Even when I crank no spark.

I found the 30A INJ fuse that powers the red/black wire burnt and replaced it but still no spark.

I thìnk we have a distributor problem, what do you think? How can I test the sensors inside the distributor?

Much thanks in advance timing.

Yep, it sounds like the coil is shorted, I would try removing the wires from it to see if the fuse still pops. Let me know.

Hi Ken,

I disassembled everything with the intention of testing the coil... upon testing (grounding the negative side of primary winding) the wire arcs like there is a short. The coil produces no spark either. I swapped the wires thinking that I might have shorted it out, but it shuts off the same thing,

It looks like the coil is toasted.

Thanks in advanced timing.

Hi Ken,

The coil should produce spark when the negative side of coil is grounded, right? Also, when the wires were connected to the distributor with KOEO and cranked the negative tachometer output wire did not flicker while cranking. So, I believe the ignition control module is toast too.

I then checked for resistance on the 6 pin terminals, and I got no continuity save for the last two terminals. I got a value of 50ohms, a value I am fishy about. Could you help me with confirming that that ICM is also toast?

Sizwe
Thanks, in advanced timing.

If the coil is shorted you won't get a pulse unless you remove the negative wire from the coil, if you still don't get a pulse it will be the module or the pickup.

I guess the coil is shorted because I grounded the negative wire for 1 second at mist trying to imitate the ICM but no spark.

Yep, it sounds like the coil is shorted which is common.
