I lost my key on the side of the road, so I tried to hot wire it. I didn't know about the pass lock system, yesterday I found my key. I still have to replace the ignition switch, cylinder and wires. How much is it going to cost me for the parts I need and how should I do this? Any helpful suggestions please.

Hi,

I can provide directions for the removal and replacement of parts, but once that is done, you will still need to have things programmed so the vehicle recognizes the new switch and key.

If you look below, I attached two pics. The first is the lock cylinder and the second is the switch. Labor is indicated in hours, so whatever the shop charges hourly will be multiplied by the total number of hours.

Additionally, I'm not sure how badly the wiring is damaged, so I can't give you an idea on that. However, if you send me a pic, it may help.

Here is what I suggest: First, the prices above are dealer prices. You can normally find them for less. Also, dealers/shops can be expensive with labor. So, what I suggest is to contact a locksmith. Oftentimes, they can do the entire job for you including programming.

Let me know if this helps or if you have other questions.

Take care,

Joe
