i can't find anything on diagnosing a p0418 and i have no clue where the smog pump is

The P0418 code is an electrical fault in the air pump relay control circuit, so it can be the relay or the fuse and if they are okay the pump itself is bad. Here is the location of the pump and what fuses/relays to check or swap out. These pumps go out all the time BTW. Check out the images (below). Please let us know what happens. Ken
