2006 Hyundai Tiburon Electrical System Turns Off and On Whe

Recently, within the last few days, my car has started to have a weird problem. While the motor is running the electrical system seems to turn off and then within a second turn back on. Only once has it completely stopped the car and I had to restart it. Most of the time the engine continues to run and the electrical system just restarts.

The car was recently repaired from a front impact collision in Feb/March and it has been working fine since we got it back. At the time it was in the shop we changed all the fluids and replaced the radiator. As far as my understanding goes there was nothing that they did with the electrical system.

I am wondering if this could be a sign that not everything was fixed or if this is just the battery going or something worse? Thank you for your help!

When you say electrical system, what exactly is happening? Lighting? Cluster? charging?

What makes you point to electrical system failure as a description. Not being wise, just trying to clarify.

The problem starts with the radio shutting off and then the lights and the rest of the electronics shut down, while the motor continues to run. Within a second everything will come back on. The one time it shut the car off when I restarted the engine the computer of the car had reset. I could tell because the temp was listed in C instead of F which happened the last couple of times the car computer was reset during routine matience.

Thanks for the clarification.

I would first contact the company that did the repair work and ask them if they could look over their work.
If nothing comes of it, then I would recommend testing the alternator and battery.

Ideally I would try to check the alternator while the problem is happening. This may also be a communication issue between modules, but would expect a code to set in the pcm.
