Hi bjerzey,

To complete the driver cycles you must drive the car twenty miles and then shut the car off and allow it to cool overnight. Then drive the car another twenty miles and the monitors should be reset.

Please let us know if you need anything else to get the problem fixed.

Cheers

In Arizona, my car has failed the emission check, due to the "drive cycle" is not set. What does this mean? How do I reset or setup this drive cycle? I am told you have to run the vehicle through several scenarios, however I have not been able to find out what these scenarios are.

My son drives the car to school, maybe five miles one way. And to work, about one mile one-way. Mostly short trips, no longer than five minutes running time. He has been on maybe two trips over forty miles one-way, on the interstate, no stops.

They say it could take up to a week of regular driving to set the drive cycles. If it will not set the drive cycles usual problem is bad thermostat or bad intake air temperature sensor.

We have had the car for six months, but he has not been on many trips of different driving scenarios.

If you have been driving it for that long there is definitely a problem. How the drive cycle works is the computer checks the outside ambient temperature and compares it to the engine cooling system temperature and it needs to see they are equal when a cold start condition occurs. I find most causes is a out of sync outside temperature sensor or engine coolant temperature sensor. The other problem is the computer may not have memory power and the computer keeps resetting. The power supplies will have to be checked.
