2003 Hyundai Tiburon Coolant Leak

Hi, my 03' Tiburon was leaking coolant into the passenger side carpet, I took it in and they said that my heater core was clogged. I believe that maybe it is clogged, but would that be a reason to cause a leak? It seems like the heater core would be cracked or something and need to be replaced. Can the heater core leak just because it's clogged, as they say? Thanks.

if its clogged it wont cause it to leak. simply because its filed with coolant, being plugged would only mean theres less coolant in it.

it is definetely leaking.

Thanks for your quick reply, that's what I was thinking. Today my engine overheated soon after I got on the road, and they found out that I have a bad thermostat. They replaced that and it is having no more overheating problems, and as of yet I have not seen any more leaking. However, I noticed that white smoke or steam is coming out of my exhaust pipes. I heard that that was because of a blown head gasket, do you think that is the cause? Or can there be any other reasons? Also, is it safe to drive at all? Thanks for all and any help.

sounds safe to drive to me! if the headgasket is bad ull be loosing cooalnt. also on teh pcv valve, oil dipstick and oil fill cap there will be a foamy white or foamy green substance, if thats there suspect headgasket issues, also oil in coolant will indicate this.

they have a few easy tests to check for blown headgaskets, some with ph paper, others with pressurizing the cylinders, or checking a cylinders compression.

white exhaust could also indicate excessive moisture in the gas.
