My front driver wheel makes a noise when the car moves that gets a lot worse when I break. You can also feel vibration in the break pedal.
I unmounted the wheel and noticed that the break disk is loose (no screws holding it in place) which may or may not be a problem since the wheel itself would keep it in place.
When I rotate the disk with my hand I notice that it is not regular and that's probably what produces the noise. It goes from no friction to almost impossible to move and back to no friction as I rotate it.

Would this be a simple as replacing the rotors/disks, the caliper or could there be other problems as well?

sounds liek a warped rotor, remember the pads are basically touch the rotor at all times and when you turn it it will get hard to turn if there is a irregulatirty, does it get hard to turn in same area? try turning forward, then back at varried lengths, does it still get stiff in same area? chances are its the rotor. replace both front sides.

Yes, the rotor gets stiff in the same area. I will replace both front rotors with better quality ones (the ones I have did not last me 2 years).
Is it Ok that the rotor is not held in place with screws? In the picture you can see wholes where I assume there should be 2 screws, but there's nothing.

i belive those are there to put bolts in to push the rotor of in case it gets rusted on that way you dont have to beat on it with a hammer or heat it up and ruin the temper. the rotor is held tight when the lugs are put on!

That makes sense since the holes on the rotor have a thread. This is what got me confused:

if you look at their picutre they have set screws, but they also have the two empty holes such as you have.
