I replaced my alternator and battery. I bought my alternator at Autozone. My car checked out fine, but then my wife called me and told me the car would not start. I took the battery out and took it back to Autozone. It tested 100% charged. I took it home and hooked it back up. The car started. Today, it did it again. All the lights, AC, radio turns on. I just can get it to start. Could it be the starter solenoid or ignitions switch? If so, are there instructions how to do it? I am in the Air Force and do not have a lot of money. Can you help me diagnose the problem.

It could be the starter, the starter relay, or the ignition switch. Here is what I need you to do. When it doesn't start, have a helper turn the key to the start position while you check for voltage to the smaller wire on the starter. You should get 12+ volts. If you do, the starter is bad. If not, then move to the relay.

Let me know what you find. If you are on active duty, be careful and god bless.
