We have approximately 300 miles on our new 07 SUV. It has auto trans, 2 wheel drive with the V-6 engine. I accidentally noticed that I can remove the key from the ingnition when it is in drive, neutral, or reverse along with the normal "park" position. I think this is dangerous and I'm taking the vehicle to the dealer Monday morning to see what needs to be done to correct the problem. I would like to know how much of a problem this might be to correct. Is this a major undertaking? Is it something that can be corrected in an hour or two? Just what has to be done??? Would the normal machanic know what to do or would this be a "fishing expedition"? I would appreciate a prompt reply so I can be ready for whatever.

I wouldnt imagine it could be much more than the key tumbler assembly. Whether or not they have one in stock for an 07 is another thing unless it is the same as an 06
