error codes and flashinfg check engine light

HAve you changed the timing belt yet?

no I haven't, I never thought to check that. I also can't find a haynes or chilton for this car(online or in the stores). any idea where I could get one for a 2001 hyundai accent 1.6

any direction on what to check next or proceed to do will be appreciated.

Hey Roy,

I mised the milage, it should be changed every 60,000 miles. When it goes it does cause head damage. Hyundais are one of the worst. It may have skipped a tooth and the valves may be dinged. There is a manual here:

The more you crank this, the better the chance of damage if I'm right. Maybe it is fuel or spark causing the problem.

If you can pull the timing cover back you may be able to see the belt. turn it ove by hand to inspect the teeth.

I got that ebook for a month, so I can take care of the maintenace issues, this is going to sound really stupid but when I started to move hoses and wires to try and check the timing belt I found a huge hole in the rubber hose from the throttle body into the engine. I replaced it and the engine is smooth ande the codes didn't pop right back up (they did after I reset before).

I am a little confused how a hose could generate a 0507 0300 0301 0302 0303 0304, but it seems to have worked.

You nailed it Roy!! And it explains all of the codes. That vacuum leak raises the idle, thus the first codes. That air entering the manifold is not calculated by the computer as it is bypassing the sensor that reads where the the air should be coming in. That extra air leans out the air/fuel ratio thus the misfires on all cylinders. If you need any help navigating through Mitchell let me know. IF you haven't done the timing belt I strongly recommend it. When they break on these it WILL trash the head and sometimes pistons.
