Hi Guys,
Thanks for this service, very helpful for those learning about mechanical trouble shooting.
My problem with my car is as follows: I replaced my starter/solidoid 2 years ago with a rebuilt starter ever since then I have occassionally had a minor problem with the starter as it occassionally makes a grinding sound when I try to start the car but usually after a few tries it engages. The last time though it made the grinding noise (like that when you try and start a vehicle when it is already started) about 5 times and then no turning over at all now. So no noise is made now, no clicking, nothing. I took the starter off and had it tested and they said it turns fine. Battery is good. I also took a scr4ew drive to connect the two points on the solonoid and it turned over momentarily. So is it most likely a problem with the solonoid or could it be something else like an ignition switch?
Thanks heaps
Rob
