Trying to work out where an active can get to the tail light when all switches are turned off. Is it common for the stork light switch to be faulty? But this doesn't make sense because the tail lights are only the lights illuminated. Front lights are off???

Inspect the brake light switch located on top of brake pedal. The switch creates an open circuit when brake pedal is up and the circuit closes when brake pedal is pressed, causing lights to illuminate. If it is faulty or out of adjustment then the lights will remain on even with vehicle off.

Sorry about that.

You need to inspect your taillamp relay which is located in the engine compartment relay box. If it has failed then it will cause a closed loop and allow the tail lamps to remain on at all times. For information on how to test a relay, follow the link below.
