Engine Performance problem
1998 Hyundai Excel 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Manual 150 00 miles

About 2 months ago I did a service on my Hyundai Excel and it has been running fine. I drive it everyday, but recently it has started to die on me. After about 10 min of driving it will suddenly drop revs down to about 1000 rpm and no amount of accelerator will change this. If I allow it to idle for about a minute I can then accelerate and drive for another five minutes before I have to pull over again. Sometimes I can drive for 10 minutes before the problem occurs again. It feel as if the car is been starved of fuel so I replaced the fuel pump but the problem persists. I did change the fuel filter, plugs, air filter, oil filter and oil with my original service 2 months ago. No indication lights come on when this problem occurs. Thanks to everyone for a great site.

Yes - I found my problem. It was my MAP sensor. As soon as my problem started i noticed that my fuel consumption was very bad. i asked around and was told that I should check my Map sensor. I replaced it and have had no more problems.
